From Lockdown to Liberation: 10 Life Lessons Revealed
Life is a roller coaster, and this current drop is unlike any before. Here are my observations and experiences during this lockdown:
Work: Contrary to the belief that work is solely a means to livelihood, it is also a necessity for engaging the human mind. Work implies action, as beautifully put by my Guru, Swami Chinmayananda: “Action is the currency of life.” It is essential to find work that aligns with our aptitude and interests to evoke excellence and ease struggles.
Simple Joys: Amidst the routine of home life, what I miss the most is the freedom to go out for a stroll, plug in my earphones, feel the breeze, and maybe meet a friend. Everything else comes next.
The Irony of Life: While we once longed for weekends and ‘me time’, now, with ample time, we struggle to stay occupied. It’s a time to read a book, watch a film, learn to cook, build a skill, or connect with friends.
An Anxious Mind: Anxiety often stems from worrying about the future or regretting the past. Focusing on the present brings peace amidst uncertainty.
The Choice We Make: Life is divided into what we can control and what we can’t. Instead of dwelling on things beyond our control, we can focus on self-improvement and pursuing passions.
Save for a Rainy Day: Financial planning is crucial, especially during uncertain times. Cultivating financial literacy is key to long-term stability.
Input Equals Output: Information overload can lead to anxiety and negativity. Preserving mental well-being requires filtering out negativity and nurturing positivity.
Strength of Character: Building resilience strengthens our character and roots us firmly amidst life’s storms.
Practicing Self-Control: Resisting temptations and practicing self-discipline contribute to personal growth and societal harmony.
The Plight of Animals: Reflecting on the treatment of animals prompts compassion and respect for all life forms.
